On the road to nowhere

I spotted this glorious bull on the national highway that connects Delhi with Noida. It was a hot May evening and the traffic was inching because of the many roadblocks that dot major roads, courtesy the ongoing construction for the metro rail system.

The backdrop that you see is of a massive shopping mall called "The Great India Place". Numerous global brands have shops here. It is as yet in a semi-finished state. It sprung up in a record time with businesses, ranging from multi-national brands to builders, capitalizing on the spending spree of the young middle-class with greater disposable salaries and higher credit limits.

Bang opposite to this structure is an existing shopping complex. Next to the existing one, a huge open area has been dug up for making space for four floors of a seven storied mall.

This space transformed from an open fallow ground to prime property covered under concrete and tar in just five years.

This bull perhaps grazed on this very ground as a young calf.

Animals like this, with wounds on their body, caused by vehicle and scared workers engaged in these never ending construction, can be frequently spotted on Delhi roads.
